Obesity Management is a non-surgical procedure to treat patients with mild to moderate obesity. Intra gastric balloon – Balloon filled with 500- 750 ml water is placed in the stomach. This leads to reduction of appetite and food intake. Expected weight loss is ~10% of total body weight. This much of weight loss is effective in treating patients with diabetes mellitus, hypertension, osteoarthritis, and dyslipidaemia. Many patients are able to stop insulin and reduce the oral medications of blood sugar control and hypertension. Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) – ESG is new endoscopic technique effective in controlling the body weight. During ESG, sutures are applied in the stomach, reducing the size of the stomach, leading to reduction in dietary intake. Expected weight loss is ~20% of total body weight leading to control and reduction in obesity related comorbidities such as Diabetes mellitus, hypertension, dyslipidaemia and osteoarthritis.
