Constipation

It is the decrease in the frequency of stool. Less then one stool in 3 days.

Causes

  • Eating Food Low in Fiber
  • Not Drinking Enough Water
  • Not Getting Enough Exercise
  • Resisting the urge of have a bowel movement
  • Taking Stress
  • Eating Large Amounts of Milk or Cheese

Symptoms of Constipation

  • You have fewer than three bowel movement a week
  • Your stool are dry, hard or lumpy
  • You feel bloated and nauseous
  • Your stool are difficult or painful to pass
  • You have a stomach ache or cramps

Diagnosis of Constipation

  • Blood Test
  • Colonscopy
  • CT Scan, MRI
  • Sigmoidoscopy
  • Anorectal Manometry

Prevent Constipation

  • Eat a well balanced diet with plenty of fiber
  • Exercise regulary
  • Drink Plenty of Water
  • Move yout bowels when you feel the urge. Do not wait.
