An esophageal stricture is an abnormal tightening or narrowing of the esophagus

  • Symptoms
    1. The feeling of getting stuck in your throat
    2. Frequent episodes of choking
    3. Burning sensation in the neck or throat
    4. Difficulty Swallowing (Dysphagia)
  • Diagnosis
    1. Xray with Borium
    2. Ultrasound
    3. Endoscopy
    4. Esophageal Manometry
  • Risk Factors
    1. Alcohol Use
    2. GRED
    3. Hiatal Hernia
    4. Dysphagia (difficulty in Swallowing)
    5. Weight Loss
    6. Weakness
  • Presentation
    1. Don’t Smoke
    2. Elevate your pillow when you rest or sleep
    3. Avoid spicy, fatty, tomato-based, or citrusy foods and caffeinated or carbonated beverages
    4. Eat smaller meals, and don’t eat for a few hours before bedtime
    5. Don’t drink alcohol
